I inherited some real estate in NC with one other family member. I paid her for her interest and she gave me a special warrantee deed. The register of deeds said that I could just pay to record that deed with the doc stamps, or. since it was an interest from a family member, there may be a way to avoid the doc stamps (and I suppose the reassessment it would trigger). Before I ask an attorney, has anyone encountered this? Thank you!
