Some of my friends seem to be booking vacations more than 6 months in advance but we have a hard time making plans that far into the future. We tried it a few times and the trips were terrible because of mostly weather conditions.
For example, it was training heavily in Asheville NC, covered with dogs in Seattle, and supper hot in London. But whenever we book about 2 to 3 weeks ahead, it was almost always a pleasant experience. We have had memorable trips to San Francisco, Sedona, and Lisbon.
The negative side of not planing ahead is the trip will be expensive. Plus, we still work and we may not get time off if we don't tell our employers well in advance.
So how far ahead do you plan? Is there an optimal sweet spot? Thanks!
