Personal Consumer Issues • Thule rooftop box repair

Hey all

Anyone ever repaired a roof top cargo carrier/box before and have suggestions on fixes?

A while back we forgot it was on top of the car and pulled it into the garage at my BIL’s old place. We heard a loud popping sound and immediately realized what had just happened :(

Now, I’ve actually done a repair on this thing already but on the black bottom which was a little easier as I was able to use black ABS cement and fiberglass tape to seal off a crack.

The damage here is a little worse that with a couple pieces that popped out (fortunately, we found them inside the box... whether or not they're actually salvagable is another story) and running cracks in multiple directions. Not to mention the upper half is a silver/gray colored material (which I assume is also ABS but not 100%).
I have heard of multiple ways of doing this, including Epoxy (which may be prone to failing over time with exposure to UV), JB waterweld, ABS cement, other speciality ABS products (https://easyabsrepair.com/ is one of those), Plastic welding (although, I'd really like to not have to buy more tools if I can't help it... although, more tools wouldn't hurt either :D ).
I could attempt to employ the same fix as before but the mismatched colors would be pretty bad… I suppose I could spray paint the entire thing after though. I did just find this video, but not sure how effective a soldering iron would be in my case - https://youtu.be/4aE-f6ryCWU?si=n45W3kC4mLsuGiR3

Thoughts on how to best fix this?
