As one of the final steps for my mortgage to be approved, the lender is requesting an updated employment verification, either from my employer or by me using a third-party service known as Truv.
What's unsettling about Truv is the following line in the google results under the section "About Us", stating its mission to unlock everyone's financial data (see screenshot below)
In contrast to well-known verification services such as Plaid, I've never heard of Truv until today. I personally find what it requires rather intrusive. In my case, it is access to the portal I use for most of my benefits, which contains not only pay stubs but also details such as contributions to TSP (401k analogue), HSA, etc. The only thing going for Truv is speed, as HR might take a day to furnish a letter.
Anyone knows if this service could be trusted?
