I have longed desire to expand my career and move into a management role. My current company has always treated me fairly but values me as an individual contributor. I have applied, and eventually offered roles that would be significant “ladder steps” only to turn them down due to the daunting reality of moving my family.
My son has a complex medical history and my wife has a good job, two aspects that make the decision so difficult but at the end of the day it’s my innate cowardice that is the driving force denying these roles. How does one move past this shame, accept the situation and move forward?
