[Topic is now in Personal Consumer Issues - new vs used car prices. mod mkc]

Not in the market for a Tesla or any car, but found this price anomaly between used and new Tesla's. If I were to ever buy one, then wondering why more people aren't doing this, are they unreliable? normally when cars lose that much money in depreciation it is because they are unreliable after the first few years. Given that Tesla owners I have come across everywhere stands by their longevity and reliability, what's the secret behind the low price?

For instance, a 2021 Model S long range with 23K odometer and 400 range is 50K, and new is 75K, that's a 33% price drop in just 3 years. This would be great deal, except if the cars were not reliable like German cars that takes a huge depreciation in 3 years. Likewise, 2021 Model Y's are plenty available in the 30K range, where as new will cost 50k or more. Looks like a steal, I may buy one for my soon to graduate college student at this rate.
