Hope so....
Hi all,
I tried to pay my taxes at 8:45pm PST 4/15/2024 at irs.gov.
The site said it was down for scheduled maintenance until 4/16.
(said to myself....On tax day???? After Billions to spend on improvements????)
Anyway, it was back up after 9pm PST. I paid by 9:45pm PST.
The IRS logs my payment on 4/16. I apparently owe 5%. Is this true?
Same with Schwab. I tried to move money to a Roth for year 2023, which was allowed. But the deposit would occur on 4/16. The chat support person said they need a postmark 4/15, not a transfer timestamp on 4/15. Misinformation and now a missed opportunity? Or is this timezone discrimination illegal?
(no lectures on procrastination please. My better half let me know Image may be NSFW.
