Personal Investments • Social Security Question

Over the last few years S/S has had a number of COLAs. I am not currently taking S/S but do review my S/S statement twice a year. I do not see these represented in my S/S statements. So do these COLAs only apply to people receiving now or will the COLA be added when I begin taking S/S?
