Personal Investments • Transferred assets out of Betterment

I have been investing with Betterment over the last seven years with a 100% stock fund in a taxable account and have been very happy with their service. I make weekly deposits, which automatically go to the funds that have dropped in value to maintain target locations. It also does tax loss harvesting, though I can’t say how much money this saves me.

As my portfolio has grown, so has the cost of their service, as they charge 0.25% of assets under management. I can’t say I’m getting enough value out of them anymore because they're basically managing my weekly deposit rather than the stuff that’s already invested.

I decided to do an ACATS transfer of all my Betterment assets into my Schwab brokerage account with the rest of the assets (my account now looks like a mess with 20 different index funds!). My plan is to maintain the target asset allocations every few months by selectively reinvesting the dividends.

Has anyone done something like this (ACATS transfer out of robo advisors)?
Did it make sense?

I want to continue automatically investing weekly. Should I restart funding my Betterment account, or do you recommend other options for weekly automatic investing?

Many thanks!
