I ran into an issue with the Canvas MYGA process I wanted to share.
I’ve bought 3 of these the last 2 years and the process was painless. This last time it wasn’t.
When applying I hit a snag regarding not using an existing contract to fund the new annuity and couldn’t move forward. I never had that issue before so I used Ben, their online chat, and they said they would send me a “help sheet” for that section.
I immediately got an email but instead of the “help sheet”, I got a pdf of someone else’s application with all their personal information including name, SS#, home address, email address and income info!
I immediately let them know what had happened and they said “I am sorry about that please delete this information.” Which I did.
It seemed so nonchalant so I called and got a manager (maybe) on the phone and let him know I wasn’t comfortable with what had transpired and what safeguards they could perhaps put in place or would put in place to make sure something like that would never happen to any client again. He had no answer and said they would turn it over to their compliance team and I might be contacted.
I understand mistakes happen and good help is getting harder and harder to find but these companies must do better.
Just one mans experience. Cheers!
