I am curious how the IRS is doing in regards to processing paper returns for tax year 2023. Probably data from 2022 is about the best estimate at this point. I will need to file a paper return for a family member who will get a small-ish refund (about $1000). I know that during the pandemic, the only way to get a refund in a reasonable time period was to EFile. If I help my relative file on our about March 1, 2024, by mailing in their return, when can they expect their refund to be direct deposited to their account?
