Personal Finance (Not Investing) • No-state-income-tax states are not good for retirees.

Read this subject line in another thread. I have always assumed the opposite.

We currently live in a no income tax state and are considering relocation to another no income tax state in retirement. The weather is the main consideration for us.

Does anyone have any observations about various states for retirees from a financial standpoint (income, property or sales taxes)?

Homeowners insurance costs (seems I have read that Florida is very expensive or unobtainable) ?

Also, initial cost for similar properties seems to be less in Texas than Florida (the 2 states we are considering for better weather).
