Personal Finance (Not Investing) • How do I pay New Mexico compensating tax

Hi,

Some quick background on my question:
- I am a first-year resident of New Mexico in 2023
- While in New Mexico I made a few online purchases for which sales tax or its New Mexico equivalent (gross receipts/compensating tax) was not collected
- The statutes make it clear that the buyer is almost always responsible for paying this tax if the vendor does not explicitly collect it
- The only form for paying this tax that I have been able to find TR-41413, Gross Receipts Tax Return, and TR-41412, Compensating Tax Return, which require a business tax ID number and therefore aren't for use by private individuals (right?)

Does anyone know how I am supposed to go about paying this tax, preferably by a mailed paper form? Because this is my first year filing in New Mexico I do not have access to the online portal (TAP). Right now the only option I can think of is to apply for a business tax ID number and then use the forms mentioned above, which seems awfully contrived for a private individual like myself who makes say $200 in these purchases annually.

This issue caught me by surprise because my previous state (Illinois) has a dedicated line on the personal income tax return for estimating, reporting, and collecting tax on out-of-state online purchases. I assumed it would be the same in New Mexico, but I've finished the PIT-1 form and found no such option. From the New Mexico statutes it appears the compensating tax is due on a monthly basis rather than annually, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. First I need to find the form for paying it in the first place :?

Thanks for your time and your willingness to help!
