Personal Consumer Issues • Window treatments that reduce outside noise

I’m interested in finding out about window treatments that have been effective in reducing the outside noise that infiltrates your home. In particular, I want to cutback on traffic noise but other sounds like voices, barking dogs, and loud music are of concern too.

If you’ve found a treatment — or combination of treatments — that has made a significant difference in the noise you experience, please fill me in.

Upgraded windows are not an option.
