My wife is an internal medicine physician who will be finishing her chief year in the spring of 2025. She is opening negotiations with several large academic institutions. We are planning on having her opt out of her future employer's health insurance plan in favor of her being a dependent on mine (the health insurance at my institution where I am a fellow is much better). If we do this would we be able to negotiate a salary increase equivalent to what her institution would otherwise pay to host her health insurance? If so any idea on what dollar amount we may ask for as a salary bump?
