My Mil owns a 120 acre property/farm in Missouri. There’s a proposed electric transmission line slated to go through her land. After working with the Land Agent from the Utility Company it’s not going her way so her only option left is to try and get as much compensation as possible. A lawyer friend suggested the following:
1, Hire a commercial real estate land assessor and establish the current value. Once the transmission lines are installed have the land reassessed so you will know exactly how this impacted your land value.
2,Gather other land owners and make this somewhat of a class action lawsuit.
3,Hire an attorney with a background in this type of law and sue the utility company for the loss in value.
Anybody gone through this with success?
