I've seen a lot of mention of taking a RMD in-kind but has anyone successfully done this on Vanguard?
My story: Brokerage platform, 2 accounts one rollover IRA (VTSAX), and another taxable brokerage with only settlement fund. I withdraw RMD from IRA account and select taxable brokerage as destination. Being settlement fund is only fund there, I select add a fund and add VTSAX. I can then select VTSAX as destination. I get an error message about trying to deposit into same fund or something like that. In order to keep things moving along I ended up depositing in the settlement fund and once it hits, I will move it to VTSAX. Has anyone been able to do this without using the 2-step process?
