Personal Consumer Issues • attic insulation question - spray foam in tight spots?

See image. Has anyone ever heard this from a contractor or had it done on their home?
(not new homes, adding to older existing home; winter climate)

A contractor suggested putting 'spray foam' in these areas as its difficult to get a meaningful amount of loose fill insulation there due to roof slope and small space. Rest of the area would be blown in insulation. Think 'pie slice', but it would go around the entire home at the eaves where applicable. The suggestion was that it would help with any ice damming etc.

This spray foam idea adds about a 50% increase in cost to the job. They spray this, let it set, then do loose-fill for the rest. It does not affect the vent chutes, they are installed first.

The insulation rep wasn't pushing this, he merely suggested it due to the tight space etc, but have not seen or read this anywhere before. No other company has suggested it.

Note - am not looking to have spray foam insulation installed in the entire attic, he just suggested these areas.
Insulation would be standard loose fill; they air-seal other openings on attic floor first with foam (light fixtures etc), that is standard
