Personal Consumer Issues • Water bottle for an upcoming international trip

Hello Bogleheads,

I'm looking at a trip to Central/South America later in the year and am in need of your guidance for water bottles. I may not be able to boil water, so I'm looking for a water bottle that serves this purpose. This is all based on some initial internet research and would welcome the expertise of this group.

There seem to be two types of water bottles: (i) filtering water bottles and (ii) purifying water bottles, but based on my initial research, it looks like only purifying water bottles remove viruses from the water and serve the same purpose as boiling water.

Questions:

(1) Any recommendations for purifying water bottles?
(2) There seem to be two types of purifying water bottles -- those with a disposable filter (Grayl) and those with a rechargeable UV light in the cap (Larq or Waatr). I'm leaning towards a Larq or Waatr simply for the convenience of not having to buy replacement filters, though I would appreciate feedback on any of these brands (or others I may have overlooked).
