I am willing to surmise that participation in the market, and specifically stock indexes, has risen dramatically as pensions have fallen out of favor, 401k have supplanted them, and self-directed, free of charge IRAs are within easy reach of anybody interested.
Does that heightened participation in and of itself lead to artificially high returns ?
