My accountant did not fill out form 8606 for several years of Roth conversions. He filled them out for the years I did backdoor Roth’s. He has been unresponsive about filling them out for me despite multiple attempts to get him to do it, so needless to say I will be moving my business elsewhere next year. Apparently he thought I was just taking ira distributions despite me telling him they were Roth conversions. My fault for not noticing, but trying to get it corrected now.
I thought I would take a stab at filling them out myself, but I can’t find any examples online of simple Roth conversions without the backdoor component. I think I have to fill out part 1 and part 2 as I did previous backdoor Roth’s, but don’t want to get it wrong. I suppose I can get the new accountant to do them next year, but would like to avoid the expense if possible.
So if anyone has a link to completed simple Roth conversion 8606 forms with previous backdoor Roth it would be greatly appreciated.
