I'm looking to see if anyone has some good input on new ceiling fans. I grew up with Hunter fans and installed 3 in our house. Unfortunately they do not seem to be built as they once were and the customer service appears largely useless like the warranty. In their very short lives they have all needed the receivers replaced at various times and the newest unit (hunter sotto, we have 2 and only 1 with this issue) appears to hit a thermal shutoff after 10 minutes if you have both the light and the fan on at the same time...yet works fine in isolation with fan or bulb only. I appreciate that the fans are silent and seem to be well balanced. I'm handy and have extensively gone through troubleshooting with them. (end rant)
What ceiling fan(s) have you been happy with that are new(er). I unfortunately don't think that past quality is reflective of current these days (like with most things). The reviews seem rather poor across the board regardless of price for ceiling fans with lighting. I've looked into some other brands like casablanca (now hunter), Big xxx fans, minka, etc but they still seem pricey with soso reviews. I've normally stayed away from the box store house brands but not sure where they stack up these days. I'm hoping i've missed a fan that someone in BH can recommend. Thanks!
