Personal Investments • Late and Lazy - New Boglehead

Hi everyone! Very new Boglehead here. I am up to chapter 8 on "The Boglehead's Guide to Investing" book and loving every minute of it. I am looking to confirm if my thought process makes sense and any issues or concerns that you practicing Bogleheads see with my thought process. Any and all thoughts, criticisms are welcome!

Little about me and family: In the US and we are 37 yrs of age and 1 toddler and 1 infant. I know time is against us and we are late to the game and not trying to panic/rush and make a mistake. I used to be like "The Borrowers" in my 20s, then transitioned to the lifestyle like "The Consumers" and now, after lots changes, I have changed my lifestyle to like "The Keepers". One thing I learned from those days is stop, think, plan, then act! I am stopping to thinking and plan before I make major changes to my family short term plans and also to our savings plan.

Current plan:
We have about 40% savings rate, however, we are most of it going towards on paying off mortgage (5.5% APR) and saving for a car. We are only putting about 10% towards retirements currently. Goal was the pay off the home by 40 and then start saving 40% (of max amount allowable in the retirement accounts) towards retirement. However already reading and learning about boglehead, I am now getting really worried that my plan may not be prudent.

Portfolio plan - work in progress:
50% US Equity
20% Non-US Equity
30% Fixed Income (thinking about 5% in MM and rest in I bonds)
Just reached chapter 8 so based on the learnings, we might make adjustments to this.

Let me know if you if you need me to clarify anything else. First time poster so not sure what other information you may need.
