This year I have taken my RMDs as well as some QCDs to satisfy my RMD requirement. I had taxes withheld for the RMD portion. I have already had acknowledgements from the charities to whom I send the checks. I have done this in the past and my accountant knows how to fill in the 1040.
I have decided I want to make additional payments to a charity. My question is whether I can make additional withdrawals from my IRA as QCDs and not have to pay taxes on them. I have not exceeded the $100,000 annual limit for QCDs. I know that I will be taxed on the RMD portion I have already taken.
Thanks,
Lynette
