Hey folks:
A break from all the tax posts...
I was speaking with an older relative today, and learned that they had just been issued their 3rd BOA replacement credit card due to unauthorized charges over about two years.
The first and second group of charged were apparently caught in part by the fraud department. (Someone attempted to buy airline tickets). After the second card was issued, my relative happened to notice a small charge from a gym across the country, which they disputed. This week someone successfully charged a hotel room, and card number 3 was issued.
Would it help to not activate the new card, and just wait for things to settle out before cancelling? (They have a backup card). My concern with cancelling immediately is that BOA will make it difficult to dispute the latest charge. (I really dislike BOA based upon my own experience).
Advice? Credit reports probably should be ordered. I know fraud is up, but this seems crazy.
Anyone know a good credit card company for old folks that use it at the local grocery and to buy gas?
