Personal Consumer Issues • Any recommendation of a book that chronicles the downward spiral of an ordinary person

in the genre of tragedies, of course Shakespeare's Othello, Macbeth, Hamlet come to mind, but they are about kings and princes, not relatable.

There are also American tragedy, Crime and punishment, The Red and the Black, Anna Karenina, but these involve sex/infidelity and crimes. Nothing wrong with that, but I am not interested.

The Death of Ivan Ilyich comes close, but it is more of a snapshot, not a chronology. Also, while it is depressing, it is not exactly tragic.

Any recommendation is appreciated.
