Personal Consumer Issues • did you get an inheritance / gift -- impact?

I am thinking ahead to our kids as they get older, it is likely they will have an inheritance/option for significant gift and when we would do that and the impact to them.

Did you receive an inheritance/large gift?
At what age?
What was the amount (or if you don't want to disclose, was it a a kind gesture (nice gesture -- let you go on a nice vacation, meaningful -- paid for kids colleges, substantially impactful -- you retired etc)
What age did you get it

Are you planning to give/leave an inheritance/large gift or have you already done so? If so what was your strategy (age, amount, thought process/rational)?

For us depending on how things go (the market) we could be in a position to have a couple million (or more) per kid by the time they are in their late 20s / early 30s (or a lot more when they are older). Trying to think through our approach. Thank you

ETA: revised post to reflect inheritance OR large gift thanks to the poster who called this out (we are not dead yet!)
