Hi,
I'm wondering, how a Vanguard Index Mutual Fund price/value/gain/loss is calculated during the day of purchase.
All funds set their price as soon as the market closes each day correct?
But - say you purchase shares of an Index Fund in the morning and the stock market goes way up, or way down that very day in the hours after you make the purchase, and it shows up in your Vanguard dashboard. Do these stock market fluctuations, in the hours after you make the buy affect the purchase you made that day, from the very moment you make the buy? Are you "making or losing" money that very first day? Or does that purchase you made that morning, not actually go through, until the end of closing that day, at whatever price the fund is at that point, meaning you only "make or lose" money once per day?
Thank you for any thoughts on this!
