When you say a number for retirement whether it is absolute or times expenses (like 33x) etc. what does that number mean. For example, today S&P500 crossed 5,000 for the first time. Few months before it was in low 4000s. If you crossed your number today, would you reture at market high? Wouldn’t asset allocation also be a factor in the retirement number calculation? I am curious when I see all these numbers.
