Hello all. My 401k is at Fidelity and I am slowly converting as much as I can each year into a Roth IRA at Vanguard. I have to call into Fidelity every time to do this. Each time I call they start asking me questions on why I am rolling out money and what my strategy is for doing it. I have to explain that I am eventually converting it to a Roth IRA. Then they explain to me how I can do that at Fidelity and they try to get me to leave my money at Fidelity. This is all fine and they are not pushy about it. They are actually very helpful and nice about. I am actually impressed with their customer service. However, I am getting tired of having to go through the same conversation over and over each time I call.
I was wondering if I setup a traditional IRA and Roth IRA at Fidelity will I be able to do my rollouts and conversions all online without having to call them? Has anyone gone through this process online at Fidelity without needing to call in?
In addition, they have to mail me a check every time, which makes me nervous that it will get lost in the mail or somewhere in the mobile deposit process something will go wrong. One time, I accidently forgot to send the image of the back of the check and instead sent the front image twice in Vanguard's mobile app and that forced me to have to mail the check to Vanguard. It was inconvenient, so I would rather have the ability to do the whole process online without any checks or having to make calls.
Thank you!
