Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Advisor wants questionable information

Hi al,

I had a death in the family and my siblings and I will be receiving an inheritance IRA split between us. Yesterday, I was contacted by the trusty stating that the financial advisor that handles the IRA inheritance needs a great deal of information from me including my employment, net worth, liquid net worth, and income.

I do not feel comfortable, nor do I see any reason, why the financial advisor of the inheritance IRA would need this information to pass down the inheritance IRA to me or my siblings.

Has anyone run into this? Can anyone think of any reason why anyone would need this information to pass on an inheritance (specifically an inheritance IRA)?

Thank you!
