I had an deer-related accident with a rental car. Unfortunately, I had booked it on a credit card where I thought I had a rental car protection but did not. [It turned out that other cards by this provider had the coverage but my credit card did not have it.] Thankfully, my auto-insurance company is covering me beyond my $1000 deductible. The problem is that the rental car side (third party used by Avis) is asking for a much larger amount than the insurance company is paying. Amica feels that Avis is adding a lot of admin, loss of use charges and is not willing to pay that. The gap is not small.
- Payments made = $1000 (deductible I paid) + $1,000.00 + $9,605.83 (Amica paid)
- Gap = $4,142.80 (LOU, admin, appraisal, etc. that insurance company does not want to pay).
