I'm 50, almost 51. I was laid off today after 26 years at my company. I can't say I was completely surprised and its really the only way I would have left the job, even though I hated it. I was given a small severance package and me and my wife are fine financially. I don't plan on seeking another job anytime soon (if ever) due to a litany of healthcare problems that I have (mostly caused by my old job).
Aside for enrolling in COBRA and rolling over my TIRA, what other things should I be thinking about? I'll admit this is the first time I havent had a job since I was 14 years old. I don't have hobbies, I don't have friends (outside of my wife), etc etc. So I had nothing to retire to as many would tell me to do. We're about to leave the PNW and do a several month stay in FL and then OH to try and figure out where we want to live, but thats about all I have on my plate. All I have known is work.
Ideas are very, very welcome![Smile :)]()
