Personal Investments • Please help my son pick 401k funds from new job

Hi everyone,

My son is a recent college grad. He just stared a new job and his company will be matching up to 6%. He is able to contribute to a Roth 401k.

I am attaching his choices through morning star - expense ratio's seem high, but I imagine he should do it and get the 6% match.

His salary is mid 40's so he wants to contribute to Roth 401k NOT traditional.

He is thinking one of the S&P funds, thoughts? 100% or split

Works in NJ/lives in NY

Here are his choices:

They automatically enroll him with 3% in JPMorgan Smartretire 2060 exp 0.98%

Aggressive Growth

Allspring Special Small Cap Value Fund - Class A (Small Value - ESPAX) exp 1.25%
State Street Russell Small Cap Index Sec Land Series Fund Class VII (Small blend) exp 0.79%
Clearridge Small Cap Growth Fund - Class A(SASMX) exp 1.18%
State Street Int'l Index Securities Lending Series Fund Class VIII (Foreign large blend) 0.61%
Goldman Sachs Emerging Markets Equity Insights Fund - Class A(GERAX) 1.51%
BlackRock Health Sciences Opportunities Portfolio -Institutional Class (SHSSX) 0.84%

They also have Income Funds and Growth & Income which are all retirement target funds. High expense ratios
