[Moved into a new thread from: Forgot to cancel ACA before employer insurance began --admin LadyGeek]
reopening this thread as I have a slightly different situation. I have a BCBS policy purchased through the marketplace (full price - no subsidies) that I would like to end this month on Aug 31.
I called BCBS first to cancel and they redirected me to healthcare.gov where I initiated the cancellation effective Aug 31. However, they are telling me it could take up to 2 weeks for BCBS to get the cancel instructions which is rather ridiculous. BCBS tells me they can't cancel until they receive the cancel instructions from Healthcare.gov.
I am assuming since I called Healthcare.gov with an effective cancel date of Aug 31 then BCBS should cancel it with that effective date and I shouldn't owe any premiums for September?
