Personal Consumer Issues • Cervical Spine Surgery - Any Success Stories?

I've had issues with my cervical spine since 2003 and did have a smaller surgery (laminectomy) done in 2016 to help with a ruptured disc. That surgery was only partially successful and I've had numbness, weakness & tingling in my right arm and hand ever since. Well, time has gone by and this year my condition has worsened. It's now being recommended that I do a four level spinal fusion all the way from C-3 to C-7. I have been trying to put this off until I don't have any other alternatives but am also thinking about doing it this fall when my schedule is lighter. I'll be 66 next month and have always been very active physically.

Anyway, I am looking for feedback from folks on here who have had something similar done. Specifically a multi-level fusion and ideally for the cervical spine. Any success stories out there? Any info on recovery time, etc. would be greatly appreciated. The surgeon who is recommending this is super confident that it's a walk in the park. But the general consensus from people I talk to is to only do a spine surgery as an absolute last option.

Any thoughts or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!
