Hello,
DW had SIMPLE IRA and Northwestern Mutual with previous employer. We want to rollover that to her Rollover IRA that she just set up at Vanguard. I called the the firm that represent NM to try to start the process and I got the runaround, but now they're saying that Vanguard should initiate this transfer via ACAT to pull the account.
I have no idea what this is and how to do this from Vanguard. All my previous rollover (401K, 457B) were done by asking the previous custodian to sent check to a specific Vanguard account. Is this ACAT transfer different than a rollover?
Could someone help explain this to me and give me some guidance? Thanks!
