When you go to Vanguard's portfolio analysis on the website, if you are not invested in 20-40% international bonds then a recommendation is made to do so. My question to you kind folks, is: what percentage of your investment portfolio is international bond. And WHERE do you put it? Taxable brokerage account, like you would with international stock index, so that you can take advantage of the foreign tax credit? Or do you put it in an IRA or other tax sheltered account, given that you expect there to be dividends being taxed as ordinary income?
