I have a handful of retirement accounts (none are taxable) and an overall 60/40 split. At first I just planned to keep each individual account at that ratio, but have also read recommendations to not keep bonds in a Roth account. On its surface this seems like a reasonable suggestion, as long as my overall ratio is where I want it to be. My concern if I follow that approach is, should (or when) the stock market takes a dive I won't have bonds to rebalance the Roth (and so take advantage of the dip). What are your opinions on bonds in Roths?
