Background: I will be 79 next month. DW is 71.
I have a TIPS ladder in my Rollover IRA with the last rung maturing on 1-15-2034, and I was thinking of using the proceeds of the one maturing on the 15th of this month, to buy one maturing on 7-15-2034.
Then it occurred to me that I may not be around when it matures, and a few questions followed.
What are the odds of me being around for the next 5 yrs, and the next 10 yrs.
2. Are there statistics of 50/50 odds at various ages, ie the 50/50 chances of survival for different numbers of years, at different ages.
I am asking these questions not to act on them, as per forum rules, but strictly for my own curiosity, as they look so intuitive particularly the 50/50, so widely sought after in guesses of any type. Also the belief that these questions must have been addressed by many already.
