In our 20s, my wife and I have been struggling with credit cards. We're not in deep consumer debt, but I feel we live paycheck to paycheck and spend more on our credit cards than we should. Clearly, I don't want this, but I'm unsure of what to do.
Rewards aside, I'm a fan of credit cards because of the protection and convenience they offer. I don't mind cash/debit, but cash is often cumbersome and increasingly difficult to use. Debit also doesn't offer the protections that credit cards do, and I really don't like using or even carrying a debit card.
We have a written budget, but in terms of spending - how do you handle it? I'm familiar with the "cash envelope system", but again, in a world where bills, subscriptions, etc. are all paid online, it just seems difficult and overly complicated. Any suggestions? We're trying to break the credit card hamster wheel cycle.
