I have been a fan of ETF index (VTI, VOO, etc.) investing for years. I've been reading up on direct indexing and am curious as to whether folks on this board are in favor of it. I see the main advantage of direct indexing to be tax efficiency (as opposed to selection or eliminating of individual stocks in the direct indexing portfolio, which is of little importance to me).
Are the tax (tax loss harvesting) advantages of direct indexing over ETF investing "worth it". I see direct indexing as having a huge amount of transactions on my income tax returns which would be a disadvantage.
Does amount to be invested make a difference for choosing of one over the other?
