Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Medicare: Wife's automatic enrollment in Part B - opt-out?

My wife retired at the end of 2023. She started her social security, Feb 2024. She turns 65 this coming July. So of course, due to the social security enrollment, she is automatically enrolled in both Part A and Part B.

I am not yet retired and carrying work health insurance for us both. I enrolled in Medicare last year, and have just Part A, opting out of Part B. At this point, I'm not sure when I will retire.

For her to stop the Part B automatic enrollment, I' m a bit confused. It looks like she will receive her Medicare card/materials that give her the option to opt out? My concern is the complexity of things when I do retire and we both start our traditional Medicare, and possible consequences relative to Part D and Part G.

Has anyone else been in this situation? An option is just to have her go ahead and start her Medicare in totality to avoid future complications, but I don't like paying out those premiums, especially as she'll also have the IRMAA premium.
