I'm evaluating options for new HVAC in house built 2006- gas furnace, electric AC. 1 1/2 stories, 1500 sq ft lower, 750 upper, total 2250. Unit is attic mounted. Current system is 4 ton, single stage, 2 zones, located in NC. Options range from:
- 3.5 to 4 ton capacity
- 1 stage heat & AC
- 2 stage heat & AC
- 1 stage heat, 2 stage AC
Manufacturers quoted include Trane 2 stage, Lennox Elite and Merit, and Carrier Comfort. Trane is much more expensive than others.
I would appreciate any advice!
