My mother (94) is looking over her will. It was written several years ago before her great-grandchildren were born. Her lawyer wrote her will using "by representation" which made sense when it was written. However, I can not find anything about how great-grandchildren would inherit if their mother and grandmother predeceased their great-grandmother. All explanations I have found online are child/grandchild.
By the definitions found online for per stirpes, I believe the great-grandchildren would inherit their mother's portion of their grandmother's portion of my mother's estate. I don't know what happens if my sister and niece both die before my mother if her will is left "by representation." Can anyone here explain?
Thank you.
