I’m 65 years old and use technology during my professional career, which means that I can operate a laptop and phone. Use 2FA on financial accounts, And understand that I should have a password manager, but don’t use one now (oops).
At my office our technology department handled maintenance and best practices (Up until 10 years ago when I retired ) and at home my spouse with a strong technology background does same. However, as we mature I am interested Being advised on how to handle issues going forward.
Do I
A. Find a resource in town that I can take my devices into periodically and have them maintain, patch and replace as needed? I’m thinking of something like the way I take my vehicle in for maintenance. If I do this, do I concern myself with the vendor or person I employee is a bad actor and will access my sensitive data? (I’m predisposed To a vendor based on a good recommendation and not to be concerned about this).
B. Follow list of best practices and keep up on technology. Not my preference.
C. Other?
Thanks.
