A tea drinker for decades, I now must forgo caffeine in all forms due to medical issues. I am drinking Harney and Sons decaf Assam loose-leaf tea but find it to be too bland and lacking in body.
I know decaffeinating removes aromatics along with caffeine, but hope to find a more robust black loose-leaf decaf tea. One caffeine extraction method uses methylene chloride or ethyl acetate--these chemicals scare me a bit, so I would prefer to stick with tea decaffeinated by the carbon dioxide method.
Assam is my favorite black tea, but I am open to trying other varieties. Does anyone have a suggestion for a source?
