Last December I closed on a rental property located out of state. Used a non primary residence mortgage. It wasn’t rented before the end of 2023, though some work was done on the house to make it rent ready.
Does anyone know if there is anything I need to file for my 2023 taxes for this property? I didn’t have any income to report, but I do want to write off the repair costs against future income so I wondered if there’s anything I need to file.
In future years I’ll get advice from a CPA. Since I owned the property for all of 2 weeks in 2023 I thought I could get by without one for the 2023 tax year.
