I have employer healthcare until Apr 30 of next year. After that I am planning to take ACA (Texas based) for about 5 months between May and September, under Special enrollment, after which I plan to leave the US for a while.
During the period where I plan to be on ACA I will mostly be spending my time outside of TX in various other states - but not staying put in one particular state long enough. Since ACA is state based I understand that I will be eligible only for emergency care and can't use my policy in any other way which seems like a bit of a waste of money paying for something I can't benefit from entirely.
Question - is this my only option for coverage or are there any another alternatives for people who are traveling around and need coverage across different US states, either within the ACA or elsewhere?
