I've searched previous threads, most of which are a couple years old so wanted to ask for current opinions.
I've identified that Ego and Greenworks seem to be top choices for battery operated self-propelled mowers. It looks like either way, I'd be spending $600-700. Seems like a lot for supplementing my big zero turn-- but it would be great for ditches, along fencelines, and the chicken yard. My guess is I'd use it 2-3x per month for most of the year. I will still have to go get gas and have gas cans for my zero turn and UTV. But I like the idea of no repairs, nothing much can go wrong?
Costco has the Greenworks with 2 batteries (4AH and 2AH) and a 4 year warranty which you can double. $629. And of course it's easy to return things to Costco if things don't work out.
Ace, Amazon, Lowes have Egos. Right now Amazon has one with 2 4AH batteries and a rapid charger for $549. Comes with a 5 year warranty.
Other factors are that I hate the color of the Greenworks, and the Ego marketing makes it look easier-- offset by the reality that Greenworks weighs less. I am not a particularly handy person, so really want something that is intuitive, easy, foolproof.
I know lots of you bought Ego's and Greenworks in the last few years-- for those who've used it a year or more, can you please share how you like your choice? Would you do it again, or do something different?
thanks in advance for any advice, opinions you can share.
